The USCF National Chess Championship was held in Baltimore, Maryland from April 5 through the 7, 2024. The Brooks Chess Team U1200 came in 15th Place in the nation and won a National trophy! The top four players were: - Co-Captain Saul Lopez 4.5/7 wins - Elise Griffin 4.5/7 - Chase Jones 3.5/7 - Isabella Garza 3.5/7 The attached picture shows additional team members: - Mark Rodriguez - Kendall Shepard - Assistant Coach Jourdain Gant - Coach Jose Garza Brooks Chess Team U800 Came in 3rd Place in the nation and won a National trophy. We were only one of two Chicago schools to be in the top ten. The top four players are: - Ramon Antunez 6/7 wins - Christian Walton 5/7 - Melissa De Loera 4/7 - Cesar Morales 4/7 - Devin Funches 4/7 - Marcos Perez 4/7 Ramon Antunez came in 9th as an individual in the U800 section and won a National medal. Christian Walton came in 34th Place in the U800 section and won a National medal. This is the first time in Brooks Chess history that we won two National trophies at the High School Championship!
