Students from the Scratch Your Head! and Lego Mindstorm seminars as well as from Mr. Gulati's math class were treated to a field trip to IMC, at the Willis Tower, in downtown Chicago.
IMC's Charitable Foundation has provided funds to Brooks to purchase technology as well as hire staff to teach computer programming at the school.
After an initial tour and a presentation by IMC's Foundation's liason, Lisa Wiersma, students were split in groups and assigned to some of IMC's programmers. In three separate teams, the students were asked to complete a programming task and then return to the group to present their results.
Brooks' students were treated to a first-hand glance at professional environment where computer programming is required daily (IMC employs teams of programmers to develop and maintain stock trading software).
