Village of Brooks

My name is Beverly Hicks, I am a Senior parent and President of the Village of Brooks (“VOB”) Parent Club. Welcome to the 2021/2022 school year at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential.

VOB officers are continuously planning and strategizing ways to engage and support our parents and teachers so they can empower our youth. We all know parents are key partners in their child’s learning. VOB is an organized group of parents committed to assisting the school in attaining the highest level of educational excellence for the entire student body.

Upon registration you are considered a member and are both welcomed and encouraged to join us. Grandparent, Godparents, friends and anyone you consider to be a part of your “village” are also welcomed to attend meetings. Our hope is to support the school’s leadership in creating the kind of school community & culture where teachers, administrators and students can do their best work and to help Brooks become the #1 high school of choice in Chicago.

We all recognize the challenges of our “new normal.” Even though our students have returned to campus, to make it convenient for our Brooks’ families and guests, we will continue to host virtual meetings every first Tuesday of the month.
