In the first photos, students are cutting out buckthorn, an invasive species at Kickapoo forest preserve. They are helping to return the site back to a prairie, the areas native ecosystem.
In the other photos, the students are conducting plant monitoring so they can track the progress of the site from season to season and year to year.
